PLANNING: Analysis of the original music video

Analysis of Original Video

This is the original video to Nina Nesbitt - Just Before Goodbye. It is posted on her vevo account on youtube.
- In this video you can see that it is more of a live performance than anything else. There are a few cutaways where you can see a series of flashbacks.
- The video resembles a typical indie rock song rather than a pop song. In the video you see her singing into a microphone with her band playing insturments.
- There are no costume or location changes
- The location is internal (studio)
- Laura Mulvey's theory cannot be applied here as there is no obvious shots of dismemberment, nor does she look prvocative
- There is a black and white filter used
- There are lots of cuts and they are cut to the beat
- The structure of the video is disjuncture as there is no conection to the lyrics of the song
- There are aspects of synergy and branding within her song and the cover of her EP Stay Out: same hairstyle, red lips

However in our video, we will be doing something different.
- We will be using an external location (in natural lighting)
- The artist will be more feminine in what she wears e.g. flowy dresses
- We will feature some elements of the male gaze to appeal to a wider audience
- We will have a few costume changes to play to the convention of pop videos
-  We will be using a filter to give it a more vintage feel to it: more yellowy-green tones
- The video will solely focus on the artist instead of featuring a band, we will still stick to the disjuncture structure
- The overall feel of the video will be slightly more happier than the original
