Final Blog Post!

So this is it.

Finally I've finished everything from my ancillary work and music video to the evaluation - and it feels so strange knowing this is my last blog post!

Despite all the stress and deadlines, it has truly been an amazing journey - making our own music video was probably the most interesting thing I've done in college so far and I learned so much from it. Even though in the beginning I didn't know Kellie, Sian and Korima well, we worked together really well and I was lucky to have such lovely people in my group!

At the end I even began to enjoy blogging, although admittedly I couldn't wait for it to be over when we first began the project. :D
 

To end my final blog post, here's a picture of us all on the first day of filming - the last few moths have been stressful and hectic and wonderful at the same time & it's been an experience I'll never forget!

For this question, I made a video using the One True Media website which included all of the interviews with our target audience. However, the website didn't allow me to upload it all without subscribing so I had to do everything again, then split it into different parts and upload them on here separately.

Minor corrections

This is how I originally had the text on the spine of my CD. Even
though the colour used for the name of the artist is not the same
I decided to use it because it wouldn't be visible enough 
since the background is darker (my hair)

However, in order to follow the typical conventions of CD covers, 
I decided to use the same colours for the spine as I did for the 
front cover (an example of synergy)

In addition to that, on the spine I put the name of the artist before the
title of the CD because that is important for artist recognition. In order
for the text to be easily read, I put a white shadow over the black title
on the spine of the name of the artist

Online Photo Editing

Apart from using Photoshop (obviously), I also resorted to using an online photo editing website called PicMonkey. It allowed me to achieve some effects which would have taken me much longer to do on Photoshop. Here's how I used it -->

I have carefully looked at every point which my teachers made regarding what I need to improve and I've made the necessary changes which will be on the blog when I post my FINAL version of the CD cover and the advertisement tomorrow!

So this is it so far. I have yet to sort out the positioning of the icons and make them all the same size (since they are all over the place right now)

Also, I might change the colour of the shadow on the mini CD picture. I'll change the fonts size too, since they're not visible at all right now. 

I'll also be adding the effects I added to the text on the actual CD cover (trying desperately to include as much synergy as I can)

In terms of the actual image though, I think I'll leave it as it is, since I've done enough corrections on it already :) 

Ancillary Advert Brainstorm

To help me get my ideas together and not miss out anything important, I looked at previous student adverts and already existing ones to see the common elements between them. Based on that, I made a brainstorm of some of the vital information that I need to include on mine:

 

My CD cover so far... (draft)

This is what I've done so far - right now I am adding the album title and artist name to the spine of the CD and it should be done soon.

In addition to that, based on feedback I received from one of my teachers it would be more effective if the artist name is displayed in a bigger font than the album name. I have decided to follow the advice because it does help with artist recognition as Eva Ellis is still a performer that isn't well known. Therefore it would be easier for the audience to recognise her, as her name is clearly displayed along with the image of her.  

One other change I will make is incorporating white into the back cover, as I have done on the front. Black and white colours link with the theme of the album, and as it is called 'Looking Back', I think that the black and white scheme is appropriate and effective as it can be symbolic of the past.
